China U17 Women's Team wins World Cup opener

In the first round of Group E at the 2026 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, China U17 Women's National Team faced Kenya U17. In the first half, Wu Yichen assisted Xu Yue to score. In the second half, Xu Xiaotang netted twice, giving China a 3-0 victory over Kenya U17.

Led by former international Ma Xiaoxu, China U17 took the lead in the 12th minute when Wu Yichen delivered a through ball for Xu Yue, who finished with a composed effort, making it 1-0.

In the 32nd minute, Fang Zhenzhu’s through ball set up Wu Yichen, whose low shot was blocked by the goalkeeper. In the 33rd minute, Wu Yichen’s long-range attempt went wide after winning the ball in the attacking third. In the 45th minute, Wu Yichen’s tight-angle shot was saved for a corner. At halftime, China led 1-0.

After the break, China made no substitutions. In the 50th minute, Fang Zhenzhu’s long-range shot struck the crossbar, and Xu Xiaotang followed up to score, extending the lead to 2-0.

In the 53rd minute, Fang Zhenzhu sent in a cross, and Xu Xiaotang headed home to complete her brace, giving China a 3-0 advantage.

In the 87th minute, Liu Yuke was injured and replaced by Deng Jingjie. Five minutes of stoppage time were added in the second half. In the end, China U17 Women’s National Team secured a 3-0 win over Kenya U17, making a successful start to the tournament.
